CARE & CONNECT

Immigrant and refugee families frequently face the daunting challenge of starting anew in unfamiliar surroundings. Often, they arrive with little to no belongings, making the transition even more stressful. Recognizing these challenges, our Care & Connect Program is dedicated to easing their burden by providing essential clothing, shoes, and baby supplies for children. Our custom care package program provides immigrant and refugee families with basic needs to provide a foundation for their life in the U.S. From car seats to toys, our care packages are intended to bring a smile to children while making their parents’ lives a little easier during a difficult time of transition.  This support allows families to focus on adapting to their new communities and building a hopeful future.

Importance of Support for New Arrivals
For families who have left everything behind, the simplest necessities can make a significant difference. By offering immediate assistance, we help alleviate some of the pressures these families face. This support is crucial for several reasons:
  • Basic Needs: Ensuring children have appropriate clothing and shoes is vital for their comfort and well-being.
  • Stress Reduction: Providing essentials helps reduce stress for parents, allowing them to concentrate on integration and adaptation.
  • Community Building: By supporting families from the start, we foster a sense of belonging and community connection connecting families to local resources.

How You Can Help

The success of our Care & Connect Program relies on the generosity of the community. There are several ways to contribute:
  • Donations: Gently used clothing, shoes, and baby items are always welcome. Monetary donations are also appreciated to purchase new essentials.
  • Volunteering: Volunteers are needed to sort donations, pack care packages, and assist with distribution.
  • Awareness: Spreading the word about our program helps us reach more families and garner additional support.

Our Care & Connect Program is a vital initiative that provides immediate relief and support to immigrant and refugee families. By addressing basic needs, we empower these families to focus on integrating into their new communities and creating a stable foundation for their future. Together, with your help, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Reaching out to Referral

A volunteer from the Immigrant Welcome Center in Indianapolis reached out to us regarding a family from Congo who recently welcomed triplet boys into their lives. We provided the family with diapers, a car seat, and clothes. A local pediatrician provided them with a care package that included formula, baby toiletries, and more. And a donor chipped in a secondhand rocking chair.

Importance of health

We connected to a family from Eritrea through a local teacher. They have 11-year-old twin daughters. One of the daughters has juvenile diabetes. We educated the mother about the importance of physical activity, proper eating habits, and regular monitoring of sugar levels. The daughters served as my interpreters as the mother did not know English. It was great to see these young girls step up and communicate with me and relay the
information to their mother. We also provided the children with winter jackets, boots, and jeans to prepare them for the Indianapolis winter.
